I just bought my first shotgun and intend on using it in the upcoming deer season. It came with the rifled barrel and the smooth barrel.

My question is, which slug should I use in the rifled barrel? What are people's experience and what would be my accuracy range? Most of the shot that I will be taking (according to my hunting party) are under 100 yds. Will the shotgun suffice for this?

Thanks

In the rifled barrel you will use sabot slugs. That's the whole point of a rifled barrel.Rifled slugs such as fosters or brennekes are for smooth bores. The rifled barrel and sabots are much better and yes your range will be inside 100 yards.

with a rifled barrel/cantilever mounted scope and quality modern sabot slugs like the Remington Accutip Bonded Sabot theres no reason he cant extend his range up to 200 yards.

...but at $4 a round, sighting in and practice wont be cheap :(
