how do you put sling swivels on a 870? i think i understand the front is just slipped on the front behind the barrel screw. but what about the back? also is it possible to take your barrel that has a bead and have rifle sights put on?

thanks

What kind of stock is it?

If it's wood, then you need something like this:

If it's synthetic, the stock should have a hole where you can install a swivel like his:

Where you are matters.
"...sling swivels on a 870..." Buy 'em and install as per the directions that come with 'em. Rocket science it ain't. No special tools other than a drill(a hand drill will do) are required.
"...have rifle sights put on?..." Less fuss to buy a rifle sighted barrel. Doesn't have to be made by Remington either. There are lots of aftermarket barrels for 870's. Remington branded barrels cost more.

sorry not been around to answer. its a 5 rd norc hp 870. it has a threaded hole underside of the buttstock. am i to assume that is were you screw the swivel? ref, first picture from omi-san? barrel is not standard being a norc 5 shot. not even sure if i would fix rifle sights. just wondered if it was possible and maybe how much cost wise? reason i ask is i have limited hands on with shot guns. did a wee bit in the army with riots and of course a little skeet years ago.

"...threaded hole underside of the buttstock..." Yep. Should be replace the mag cap and screw in the rear stud.
Been using a Sterling sling on my real 870 for eons. Daft, but it works.
"...rifle sights..." Certainly possible, but another barrel will be less fuss. The receiver drilled and tapped? Epp's wants $50 plus the cost of the sights if there's no D&T. $75 if it's required.
