Remington 887 Nitro Mag Tactical

Been looking at this one for a lil bit, want to hunt with it and I am not a fan of the wood on shottys, thus I would like a tactical. I want to bird hunt (Partridge or grouse mostly, not into duck...), can you just take off the 2 Shot extender mag? Or can you get a plug for it?

Btw, completely NEW to shotguns, shot a couple thats about it, so I apologize for the noobness of this.

theres no need to take off the extension for hunting.. its light weight as anything.. but if need be i imagine you could buy a standard 887 endcap .. ( unless you have shell restrictions in pump actions too ? )

i have shot ducks with mine, i just replaced the tactical/standoff choke for a regular Mod. choke and was away laughing.

to those wondering about 870 accessories.. you may be able to fit a side saddle.. but you would have to source your own pins/bolts for the trigger group..

and 870 stocks MAY fit, but the outer dimensions of the 887 reciever are larger than that of the 870.. so it'll look 'tarded

Fenix- Do you put a plug in whilst hunting to conform with the regs?

EDIT- Whoops. I just realized that your in NZ, so my question doesn't apply to you that I know of.

My buddy has an A-tacs with the extension on it. All you need is wooden dowel cut down to the right size and you have a plug. 3 bucks at Canadian tire and your all set for hunting.

Is that a factory Nordic extension and clamp?!? pretty good kit if they are. Major Sights, bird hunting will be doable, it looks like it has the standard 870 standoff device which is a cyl. bore ported and cerrated (sp?) remchoke. Just swap it for whatever choke you like until you find a choke/load that patterns nice. For close range cyl. bore is fine for grouse. As for hunting game birds in Canada it will need to be plugged to hold 2 rounds in the magazine, wooden dowel works well and WSS should have the Tacstar plugs that come in various lengths. They even make long ones for extended tubes. 5 rounds is the limit for hunting big game, in Alberta anyways. plugging a shotgun for hunting does not have to be permanent like pinning semiauto mags, so long as it prevents more than the legal limit of shells than your good to go. Fenix, I like the shotgun course you put together, what are you using to hold the clays up?

Just used mine for the first time, at OSTS's tactical shotgun course. Took a bit to get it worked in, but I like it. Mag/barrel clamp is inching forward slowly, but I'll get that sorted later.

Lebaron in Markham had them as an in-store sale. My friend picked one up for around 3 something bills. He likes it because it looks bad ass. It does look bad ass and is lighter than my 12.5 Grizzly.

It has got some funky looking lockup bolt.
I'd rather stick with the old 870.
