Hey Gents, just wondering if any of the 887 owners out there can tell me if there are any new options for telescoping/folding butt stocks available for this gun or are we still modifying the ATI universal stocks? All I could find was this rather pricey adaptor. Also is the fore stock proprietary or will 870 stuff fit? Advice about any other stuff like the front sight etc. is welcome.

Since I have your attention, I read that a modified choke will give tightest patterns with Buckshot, but would it be safe to fire a load of 00 through a Turkey Choke? I've been told this is unsafe but I'm skeptical...not skeptical enough that I'm going to pick up a Turkey Choke later today and give it a whirl...

I received my pistol grip stock and adapter from rocksolidshotgun, this morning.
Installation was simple.
From what i see he modifies the Ati 870 adapter to fit the 887.
Its not cheap but so far it is the only option we have.
The pistol grip feels good and the look is great. The 887 screams accesories, maybe so maybe this is the start of a line of products we have been waiting for so long
Here's a couple of pics.

I think the stock set on 887 is just fine as is. A pistol grip isn't any better that the textured field stock.

I'm surprised Remington doesn't market a sorter (18.5"?) "home defence" version of the 887. They do that to death with the rest of their stuff, so....

I really like the 18.5" version and have been eyeing them up for years now.
The recent recall on them had scared me away. You need to check the affected serial numbers before purchasing one.

My stock 887 is my "go to" deer push gun. No issues of any kind. But the aftermarket market (huh?) is lacking. Maybe sales weren't what they were hoping for and decided not to make any extra parts for it ???

I agree any recals is never good to hear and as the potential to scare many people away.
Mine is older and is not affected by the recal... but then again i imagine in this day and age what products does not have any recals.
Makes you Wonder where all the money that goes into development and research really goes to....

As for the aftermarket market, that's a double edge sword... how many buyers did they loose because there is no aftermarket parts and accessories.
If i had known this when i first bought it i might have gone for a 870 instead.

Buggered wrist, a pistol grip is much more comfortable when it's acting up.

Thanks for the replies gents, I saw the modded ATI Stock from the place you mentioned, but it's a little more than I'm willing to spend on a mod I can do myself.
