Remington Accutip Sabot Slug

My buddys have tested a bunch and the HORNDAY new SST are amazing... they were putting together some impressive groups at 200 yards .. yes 200 !!!

Good to hear, I am looking forwarded to testing a couple boxes. Did your buddies find they were hitting much higher at 100 yds?

What barrel do you guys have? 1900ft/s is extremely fast compaired to most other sabots. I heard the really fast slugs wont shoot as good compaired to ones going about 1500ft/s because of the twist rate in the barrels.

i got a 26" Hastings barrel on order and I'm going to try these and the Hornady SST's. I'll post back with some results in a couple weeks.

What about just a rifled external choke?

yes you can use sabot slugs in a smooth bore with a rifled choke with fairly good results. my dad has a browning with a rifled choke that gets 4" groups at 100 yards which is plenty good enough.

but it still likely wont be as good as a fully rifled barrel. with my 870 i get 3" (outside to outside) groups at 125 yards with 2 3/4" copper solids. with 3" shells the groups were nearly twice as big so i guess the 20" barrel does better with slower loads?

If I remember correctly there is about an 8 inch drop at 200 yards... They were shooting pretty tight at 100.. Cant remember exactly.

Thanks, I could not find any Hornadys, going to try Winchesters new 300 grain/ 2000 fps. We'll see how they do.
