Remington ACR SHOT Show Video - ---LEAKED!!

It is just amazing how brutally this thing is getting savaged all over the internet. Not even the association with Magpul is saving it!

I wonder if this will end up being a boon to the XCR...if guys who were all tuned up for a new, non-AR solution will cast around looking for something else and go with the XCR (cheaper than the SCAR) and start running them long and hard and generate some good changes with the XCR?

I get the impression the XCR does not need too much more fixing to start being an actual player in the market.

Yep, it's being raked over the coals on several forums. Rem/Bushmaster had the chance to hit this one out of the park with all the anticipation but they made some serious errors IMHO:

- cost: priced up there with the SCAR, but with none of the SOF cred.
- 1:9 5.56 barrel, not okay.
- weight: heavy!
- no 7.62x39, this is what I was most excited for, the ability to switch out the 5.56 for cheap trg ammo.
- bundling the 5.56/6.8 instead of single calibre gun with a 2nd calibre kit, som emay not want to pay for the extra calibre if they don't need it.

Anyways at that price I don't see many LEO users converting from ARs, they will need to score a big .mil contract somewhere if they want to make this profitable...
 
we already get gutted up here by the time black guns go through the major distributor wolverine, and with a $3000 starting point, + wolverine's outrageous mark up,

i dont expect to see many around.

after all this waiting, what a slap in the face.

i might add - years(?) ago it was lighter than an ar, and i see no 7.62x39 or 6.5 grendel as hyped

really dissapointed
 
Awesome video, I wonder what will Bushmaster will do? I'm seriously do they expect to make sales on a rifle that has 1/9 non-chrome barrel for 3k?

The GPC will be Remington's entry into the DoD M4 upgrade competition, while the Remington ACR is the entry into the next-gen carbine competition. The company has got all bases covered!

I think this guy got it right. Remington/Bushmaster (Cerebus/Freedom Group) will probably try to milk the AR-15 system for all it's worth before really pushing and marketing the ACR.

The ACR was supposedly was going to be around $1600-1800 USD when Magpul first announced it and they had a working prototype. The cost could only inflate once Remington/Bushmaster were licensed to manufacture it. I'm assuming they put more money towards refining it, again increasing cost (However, I didn't like how the ACR developed once it was licensed out).

Remington and Bushmaster likely had to retool or get new machines in order to produce the new rifles properly which again cost more money. As they are the sole source of this product (unlike the AR-15 of which the market is over saturated with companies producing variants which will drive the cost down) they can charge whatever they feel like.

There are few next generation (3rd generation) carbines out yet so they have little competition. Only the FN SCAR, Robarm XCR, and CZ S805 come to my mind currently for 3rd generation rifles/carbines. The FN SCAR is also overpriced, while the CZS805 is not yet out. As for the XCR, Robarm is the smallest company of those listed and lost out in the SCAR competition to FN (I will not discuss why they were disqualified as it has already been frequently brought up in the forums). The fact remains, until there is more competition the price will remain high. Given the XCR's pricing Robarm may benefit from the updated ACR price.

I do think they are out pricing the ACR to the majority of consumers. But I think they did it purposefully to maintain profits from their own AR-15 sales.

HA HA HA... I knew it!!! Too bad for them, their greed is going to screw them good. Not to worry though, something better will come up, we'll probably have to pay the same or more for it too, but at least there's a good chance it'll be better. ;)

anyways, b4 you run for an xcr, please, please take the time to fire one and see how you like it.

if you're just a civilian collector and can clean regularily etc, the ar's i have fired are much more accurate, the recoil impulse is neglegable, 223 is a fun plinking round

the xcr i fired rattled - they all do, was innacurate and has a higher recoil impulse because of that big heavy bolt slamming back --from the bench i was getting 3-4"+ groups at 100 yards with various ammo, while the 2 ar's both had tighter groups

just try b4 you buy, thats all i'm saying, maybe you'll like it but i didn't

CZ S805 aint out yet but that might be interesting, same with beretta's new next gen rifle - that one is preforming superbly in its select fire military model and they are bringing one to the civilian market
