Remington and Savage

I've never owned a Savage, but I have several Remingtons that shoot very well. 5 shot groups between .75" and .50" at 100 yrds with handloads. The only thing I've done to them is tune the trigger. I'm happy.

thats what mine did with my first batch of handloads the other day, also managed to bury 4 at a half inch at 60 yards with factory ammo, im using a rifle basix trigger and grizzly gun works brake and thats really it

my savage will shoot .75" all day and .5" when I do my part well (hand loads) , it's factory out of the box no tuning at all. 110 fcp - with accu-trigger. I've experienced on problems at all with it.

I had a savage 300 win mag that I shot 600 rounds with and it still worked #1.... accurate. perfectly fine. wasnt even accustock.

I was reading up on the Savages and some people that used them in shooting courses had problems with the accu-trigger breaking, and the bolt separating. Any ideas on longevity? With a stock FP10 or R700, what kind of groups should one expect? And does the SPS Varmint rifle look like a better option than the SPS tac?
Ah, the internet.

Yep, that is kind of funny cause if they ACTUALLY used a Savage with accutrigger, they would understand there is no way to break the trigger or have the bolt separate under normal use.

Now if the course requires them to beat down a steel door or bat down attacking zombies, well, that I cannot say.

To answer your questions, get into a gun store and pick up the rifles of interest. The only way to answer the "LIKE" question is through your own eyes.

Both brands work, both have their good and bad. Each can be modified to whatever suits your fancy.

As for accuracy, you are dealing with factory rifles. The range of performance will vary as you can see from all the posts so far.

Pick a rifle, get out there shooting, that will answer more questions then any keyboard.
