Howdy all Merry Christmas.Picked up my first Rem 870 and found the barrel marked Remington Arms Of Canada Limited.Made in Canada. I never knew they had a Canadian subsidiary. The receiver is marked Remington, then a target symbol,Wingmaster and under wingmaster it states Model 870 with the r copyright symbol.Any guess on age of this firearm? It came with a full length barrel marked full(choke of course)also on the left side near the receiver are the letters ED and a very light J. Thanks for looking:)

Think I got the barrel date down.Oct 1957.Receiver has a four digit number followed by the letter V which means a 2 3/4 inch camber. Wow a lot older then I thought.Later

A lot of American companies had subsidiaries at one time in Canada. It was done to get around import dutes and such. Most of these subsidiaries closed after free trade came in.Many people lost their jobs.

Remington and Winchester use to ship parts for some of their models to Canada and assemble them here.Remington also assembled some Nylon 66 rifles in Canada.

Winchester use to assemble some of their Model 94 rifles in Canada at their Cobourg plant.

Remington also loaded or had loaded some of their ammunition in Canada.Still have a box of Remington 12 gauge Remington Express that I bought back in the early 70's that has a Maple Leaf on it and is marked Made in Canada.
