Remington Army 44

Just trying to guess the history on a 44 Army S.N. 514xx . It has insp. mark W on most parts,no address on barrel,an old replacement? Cartouche on left grip, and an iron trigger guard. Seems to work fine. Your thoughts? Thanks..

That trigger guard is Neat.
Maby for the Alaskan or Upper North American frontier so you could wear Gloves ect
The brass trigger guards are alot smaller.

I like your Trigger guard better than the orignal Brass ones.

Dixie Gun Works lists of Inspector's Marks don't show just a "W" mark, but do show "WW" for William Walters who was an Armory Sub-Inspector for Remington 1861 .44 revolvers from 1862-1864.
A good looking piece and X2 on the trigger guard.
