Remington Barrel Date ? Now with pics

Is there any way to tell when a barrel was made for a Rem 1100 410 ? I've got a barrel and a guy is asking when it was made and I don't have a clue as it was part of a deal and I don't know anything about it.

Thanks ! There are no markings on my barrel other than on the flat spot on the bottom of the chamber and that stamp in brackets is STP.The rib is stamped Simmons Gun Specialties Inc,Kansas City.Would this be an aftermarket barrel made by them ? The barrel isn't even stamped made by Remington anywhere on it.It is stamped Simmons 410ga Skeet 2 1/2" chamber and # 163 on the lug.I didn't miss anything and took a magnifying glass and nothing else.Hope this helps ?

Interesting ... you need to talk to some old skeet guys. My guess is that the barrel is a Remington barrel and that Simmons did the rib and perhaps other barrel modifications. Simmons did pioneering work in the shotgunning game a number of years ago. I suspect that your barrel may be from the 60s or 70s.
 
Old skeet guys would be me I guess.:) Simmons did make barrels for sure not a lot of selections but some. I have never seen a true 410 1100 one but seen many of their 20ga to 28ga and 410 conversions and actually owned some of those prior to remington making the 1100 410 and 28ga
That being said these would be 20ga barrels with inserts for lack of a better word and not look like a conventional 410 barrel we see today
I did also have simmons made small gauge barrels on one of my early k-32's years ago and one in 30" for a trap gun but that was 12ga
With no remington stamp at all it sure sounds like you have a simmons barrel

I'll get some pics posted on wed so hopefully that'll help a bit.I did forget there is a 20 stamped on the barrel lug but it's a true 410 barrel not a 20 with sleeve inside as you say.
