Remington BDL bottom metal

What are your thoughts on it and has anyone had had one break?

I've seen the trigger guards broken off. Doesn't happen very often though.

I had the one let go on my lightweight 416 Remington. It cracked at the contact point of the front guard screw.....Caused a few accuracy problems that were difficult to pinpoint!

I have replaced all of the bottom mets on my Remingtons' with Sunny hill stuff.....The quality is light years ahead of the factory pot metal.

I don't think it is really necessary, but its nice if you can swing it ($$$$).

I have never had one break,but I do bed the trigger guard into the stock which reduces the stress on it.
