Just wondering how many guys out here are using bulk Reming bullets.I have some .224 55 gr PSP and I am not getting the greastest results with them as far as accuracy. Every once in a while they will print a sub 1 in group ,but I find I have a lot of inconsistent groups since I started using them .They are good enuff for a hundred yd gopher patch. I can ring a 200 yd 9 inch steel gong all the time,but anything past that , forget it.
Biggest prob is I bought 500 of them and there are at least 350 of em left!!!!!!!! :oops: Was a good deal tho!!!!

I have been using IMR 4198, 21 grs, for a book velocity of 3100 fps. Don't have a chrony!!!!!!!! I have some others loaded , just havn't tried em out yet because of the lovely S Sask breezes we get around here! :wink:

If you have only tried one powder,you haven't given them much of a chance.It is unrealistic to expect your first powder /bullet combination to be accurate.
 
I load .22-50 for a fellow here, and all he wants is 2600 fps with the 55 gr Remington bulk bullet. He is happy with the accuracy - although I can't say if he's actually put them on paper. Probably the slowish speed prevents the bullet from breaking up and allows him good success on the game he takes with that rifle.
 
You weighing every charge or using a powder thrower? Work up a load? Does your rifle shoot consistent groups with a different bullet? Inconsistent groups are caused by poor bedding, poorly loaded ammo(some powder throwers will do that) or loose sights.
 
When I am playing in my gun room I sometimes will weigh every charge if I am only doing a batch of 25 or so but do use a powder measure if doing lots of rounds.When seating the bullets I look into the case and if it looks like it is not consistent with the other cases I dump it on the scale. And yes I have worked up some other loads that were not too bad at 100 yrd ,and the rifle has shot the best with a box of factory Winchester 45 gr bullets{9/16 @ 100 }.I have used these same bullets before in a friends gun and they were acceptable , but not as good as the Speer TNT bullets he switched to. I do have some other loads with different powders that I have no had a chance to shoot yet, I just wondered if anyone had any success using them..

I've found the Winchester 55 gr. to be accurate

as are the Hornady w/ cannelure

I bought a ####load of the Hornadys from Higginsons :D
