Remington buying Marlin Good or Bad?

Likely can say good-bye to the XL7 bolt rifles then I suppose.... :(

NAA.

Baaaaaad. Very bad. A combination of disgruntled Marlin employees and Remington's infamous "quality control" of late is in my opinion not the most condusive environment for a decent product.

:agree:
If it turns into the same type of quality that remington has been putting out lately, then I don't expect nothing good will come with it. Marlins made before a certain date will probably become the more sought after model. Kind of like how everyone wants a pre 64 winchester mod 70.

I'm not too optimistic given Remington's decline in quality over the last couple decades.

I was referring to the plant being moved to Remington.
I have a 1894CSS on order but there always seems to be delays.
It scares me a bit.

I know WSS in Calgary had a SS 1894 with the bullseye on the butt as of last week. I looked at both blue and SS but bought the blued one.

I was told by a reliable source that the ones with a bull-eye on them are of better quality. (someone with more knowledge on the subject could probably shed some more light on this though)

My Marlin 1985 GS had feeding problems the day I bought it! I had to send it to a gunsmith in Quebec to have it repaired under warranty (at my shipping cost)! Not a great start to my first (and last) Marlin. Now that its fixed and working well, I will keep it, as it is a good and accurate gun. But I will never purchase another Marlington again.
