Remington buys Dakota Arms

That's a shame. For the guy who could afford them the Dakota is a nice step between the factory rifle and a full blown custom job without the wait. I wonder if they will continue to operate of if, despite the press release, Remington will just pull the plug on them.

Why would Remington do that? It's not like Dakota would be in the same league as Remington and competing for the same market.

Why would they invent the J-lock? Why would they make the 710? People do stupid things. Corporations do stupid things on a corporate scale.

Years ago I worked for A&P the grocery chain. They had a niche market, and it did well, but was limited. Needing to expand or be left behind, the corporate big wigs dug deep and bought up competitors with an eye to expanding market share and widening their customer base.....

And then they proceeded to remold the new acquisitions into carbon copies of A&P.

The previous owner of Dakota drove it into the ground and bankruptcy and did a mighty fine job at that!...This has all been discussed before on the AccurateReloading website....
Remington bought Dakota...
My question to all the above posters...
What would be a better option?..Have Remington take Dakota over or see Dakota disappear altogether?
My hope is that the Dakota Model 10 will still be made...

At some point, the guys at the top of the corporate ladder like to think they know what they are doing and have the best of intentions, but have too many layers in between to really understand. (This became clear when when I recognized a dashboard switch from a Windstar minivan on a Jaguar sedan.)

I don't know Dakota, but Remington has new set of owners and a new plant. Maybe they have better ideas on how to stack up the product lines to make things work.

Why would REmington buy them to shut them down?

I thought we're in a recession, why is Remington buying other companies?
They'll likely keep the name, and lower manufacturing costs, which lowers quality, and I think you know where that road leads.

Down the road that Remington and Marlin and H&R are going now:mad:

Did people complain this much when FN Herstal bought Winchester? Marlin and NEF haven't suffered any from the Remington buyout, there's no reason to think the sky is falling just yet just because Remington makes a few crappy products.
