Remington buys out Marlin

I never liked the tupperware feel of the 710/770's, but people sure lined up 6 deep to buy them. I saw people almost getting into fistfights over 770's when they went on sale at my local shop.

I have a feeling it's a Wal-mart thing, everyone hates made in china but everyone insists on buying made in china because of the price.

Get your Marlin now, if Cerberus is anything like the former owners, Clayton Dubier and Rice, they will screw all the employees of Marlin and the guns will be made in China. In 2 years of owning my company, CD&R closed all manufacturing in the USA (our canadian plants close early next year) and moved it all to China, oh yes, the product line is still identical and looks the same but the Quality is gone. I won't buy anything remington anymore or anything they have dealings with. I'd like to know how much of Remingtons Product is still made in the USA. these companies like CD&R and Cerberus care nothing about the product or the tradition or the employees, its how to make more money fast and then sell it.

for the record, Marlins are not always functional. XLR's failing to feed, burn marks in the steel, 1895G's that have sights that wont hit within 2 feet of point of aim at 50 yards, etc

Marlin makes lever centerfire guns and bolt, semi and lever action rimfire guns. Remington makes bolt, semi, and pump centerfire guns and also makes shotguns. These differences could compliment each other.

But Remington also makes bolt and semi rimfire so some of the Remington/Marlin models may clash with each other a bit.
