Got it home last night! VG+ Condition. Looking to use 200r bullets to sight in
and have 4064 . or Varget, or IMR 4320, H335, Win 748, What to use?
Thanks for you input!

53gr of 4064 under a Hornady 200gr RN is a nice light round for plinking (2400fps)

56gr of 4064 under a Hornady 200gr FTX has a near same POI as the factory 225gr TBBC ammo (IME)

Both shoot sub MOA for me.

im yet to try 200gr rounds in my Whelen , I do plan on it some day but havnt been toting the whelen so much of late, it has a few dozen 250gr hornady sp loaded up to go.

i like varget powder but only loaded 225 - 250gr

Re15 is my preference in my 700 and 7400 35 Whelen's. But also get good results with IMR4064 and W748.

A buddy of mine did exhaustive testing with his Whelen years ago and settled on 250s and IMR 4320. So when I got mine that's the first and last powder I used (but again with 250s) and this is the results.

Gord, yours look awesome with the 1.5-5 due to it having sights, but with the Classic Deluxe, a nice 2.5-8X36 would be a nice complement

I would agree with that. I actually wanted a VX-3 1.75-6, but the 1.5-5 came along at the right price with the right reticle.

I found the 2-7 was a nice fit too.

Both my wife and I have the VX3 2.5-8 on our main hunting rifles (308's) and they are an excellent scope IMO

So with a serial # of G65379** it would be 1986 man date?

The "classic" came out in 1988 (first M700 in the Whelen) the CDL's were introduced after that in various runs.

I believe you'll need the barrel code for dating it.
