remington fin capture mosin

I had the chance to buy one, but passed. Now I'm doing some research and see the kinda of rare.

What's one worth is fair to rough condition. Missing a slice of wood by the cleaning rod, bore looks like it could use a really good clean, might have some shine left to the bore.
I don't know any of the markings.

Just throw out a ball park...

Looks like its got some shooting left in her. I didn't know markings or anything and the stock gash turned me off a little. I've done the research and now know what to look for.

Hopefully it is still available.

You're talking about the one from the recent gun show I assume. It was priced very OK. I passed it as I already have Remington in all original, non-captured condition. Otherwise I would have bought it.
 
Made in America, sent to Russia, Captured by Finland, and now in Canada. For some reason, I can hear the chorus form "I've Been Everywhere, Man" going through my head...

If you can, buy the poor thing. She's road weary and likely wants a nice quite rest in a locker somplace. :)
 
She might not have made it to Russia. When the Bolsheviks took over the US was still making them for the Whites. Between the First and Second World War most countries attempted to standardize and upgrade their arms. Finland took advantage of this by trading non-Mosin Nagant rifles for Mosin Nagants and purchasing others outright.

So this Remington Mosin, might be one purchased directly from the US by Finland

Finland never purchased M91s direct from the US. Any Remington M91 with Finnish markings and dated 1916 or 1917 made it to Russia before or during the Revolution.

Seeing as the OP missed out on the rifle in question, here's one of mine to look at to make up for it...

Remington 1917 M91. Completely original matching Remington. Has Finnish [SA] and Civil Guard markings to Poijus Kymeenlaakso region of South East Finland...

















 
tomorrow I am going to list this mosin barrel/receiver on the EE. its a finn capture. I was going to build it but I lost interest.

I like your Remington, however it looks like butt plate numbers are forced matched. Not sure about bolt. Can't tell for sure, but I have similar doubts. I have non-finned Remington that stayed in US service, but she has some spare parts with different serials, though all are made by Remington.
 
I think aside from Chatterault M1891's,.. the Remington and N.E.W. 1891's are the nicest of the 1891 to exist....excellent metal,and some damn fine walnut on 'em too...
