Remington fires when safety released

I had an M700 with the same problem, I used the action as a target rifle and simply removed the safety completely. I don't trust the M700 safety, and that's not because TV scared me (haven't even seen the show). Just not a Remington fan, nothing on the M700 is impressive from the three-piece soldered together bolt, round stock receiver, paper clip extractor, or especially the safety. Hunting Africa is my passion and you have a damn good chance of shooting somebody there with a faulty safety, not to mention the M700's other shortfalls for that kind of work (breaking bolt handles, extractor failures, push feed jams) Sworn them off and life is better for it, ya ya... I'll get an earfull now. :)
