Remington Genesis Primer Problems? Help!

I have a Genesis that has just developed a primer problem. It seems as though the firing pin is not hitting the primers hard enough to set them off. I've tried a bunch of different brands (cheddite, remington, cci) all have the same problem. There is a little mark on the primer, but not enough to set it off. Now here's the kicker. I used some federal fusions and they fire every time, but the primer actually gets stuck on the firing pin and I have to take the gun apart to get the primer off. Can anyone offer up words of wisdom as to what may be going on here? I've oiled the pin trying to get this thing to hit a little harder but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I had no problem with this gun until I fired about my 10th shot. Any help is appreciated as I'm 1 day into a week of ML hunting and need to get this thing sorted quickly.

I am not familiar with the genesis, although it sounds like the firing pin assembly is full of crud, or the channel that the firing pin travels through is cruded up. Adding oil to it probably only served to catch more.

Remington

Take apart the firing pin assembly and clean and retry the firing sequence...

This is not going to help you fix the Remington...but take it to a gun shop (explain to the owner the issue, get it repaired) and trade it on a Thompson Centre Omega or a Traditions Pursuit Pro XLT...my house has 2 traditions (wife and son) and I shoot an Omega...we have at least 500 rounds through each of these guns and NEVER HAD A PRIMER NOT FIRE or ANY CONCERN WHAT SO EVER WITH ANYTHING...EVER.

SQUEEZE TRIGGER THE STICK GOES BOOM...ALWAYS or its gone...no time for things that give any trouble at all.

Cheers

I have a Genesis for more than a year, and shot at least a hundred rounds and had no problem with the firing pin.Make sure that the spring and the pin are clean.Good luck

I handled a new Genesis recently and just hated the hammer, I was wondering if it would strike light.. Seems like a very flimsy piece of work and I'm surprised Remington would stamp their name onto it. Maybe a (much) stronger spring would help.

Ok, I think I've got this thing figured out. I got playing around with the torch cam (rolling block) and realized that the allen screw on the bottom was loose, so I took it all apart, cleaned it, and put it back together. It will fire every primer now, with the exception of the federal fusions. The fusions seem to have so much blow back that they will stick to the firing pin, so the block won't roll. We have 4 Genesis in our camp and mine is the only one that does this. It's fired every primer I've wanted it to including the one that took a 9 pointer for me 2 days ago. :D Sask Hunter, I believe the Genesis is actually made for Remington, by Traditions. I actually got rid of a Traditions to buy the Genesis. I have no complaints about this gun, now that the primer issue seems to be sorted out. With a Nikon Omega scope I can land a 250 grain T/C shockwave in a 3 inch circle at 200 yards. My short barrelled Traditions could only dream of this. (with me shooting of course) Thanks for the help guys.
