Three of us ordered the Remington Hepburn kits made by the Upper missouri Trading Company. They are the rough castings and need a lot of work by a skilled craftsman. One of my chums is very skilled and he fitted and polished his action while mine is still in the box. The landed cost was $700 each and they provide a second set of screws, so when everything is fitted, you can replace the burred screws with fresh ones. The barrel hole is properly aligned and threaded. There were a few problems. Every extractor was flawed with a crack in the casting and they were quickly replaced. On my friends action, one screw hole on one side was slightly out of alignment and he corrected this and and it is barely noticeable. He is then going to build a furnace to heat treat them. As I said, this is not for the faint of heart and you might see a couple of kits on the EE for sale soon.

I've read a bit about those kits. Pretty good for someone who has the machinery and know-how but a lot more than just a simple polish and fitting job.

Been wanting a Hepburn forever but I'm going to have to save my sheckles for one that's already together...

They won't ship them out of the US just because.
We had them sent to a friend's mother-in-law in Michigan, and he brought them across, paying the HST on them with no problems.

The finished action is on the right. It only needs hardening to be useable.
It will be some time before my chum makes and fits a barrel to it.
I have photos of his barrel drilling machine which has been set up, but he now has to figure out how he's going to rifle the barrel.
