The real interesting thing with these rifles are the kit. There is a lot to know, detach sights for example, Redfield palma, ok weber and RPA, the badger rail which hard to find, slings, Olympic Globe front base notched, even the flash eliminator mounting method interesting. Ie nut behind front post. Many hard to find items. Old bases vs RPA ribbed L style, etc etc Not cheap, think I read that there were 2000 refurbished rifles.

Other than TRYING to get an M24 from Gunbroker in the US and getting it imported via IRUNGUNS if that’s even possible , anyone selling his M24 up here ? Thanks
IIRC Remington was selling two "versions" of the M24 for a short period of time: the Collectors Edition that had new barrelled actions but recycled stocks actually used by military personnel, and brand spanking new M24s reportedly assembled from overrun components. Reliable Gun had a few of the latter some time ago I want to say $4K ish, with the sight bases on the barrel/action but no actual sights of course. These ones have "MODEL 700 M24" punched into the side of em.
Pretty sure they were all RR with letter suffix. Not a Rem7 expert but some say the RRs were the best of the lot, quite the opposite of being more prone to problems from lack of Freedom Group QC. These come up on EE every so often and I've shot at least two that I can recall from local range buddies, so they are definitely around. Uncertain as to collectability but surely a Forgotten Weapons favourite!

Here's a question for the M24 afficinados... How far from an M24 is the Remington LTR?

The M24 is a long action firing a short action calibre. They have a 26" barrel with a heavy contour which is it's own contour design. Finished with an HS Pro Series M24 Rifle stock.
In comparison, the LTR is a short action firing a short action calibre. They have a 20" Heavy contour fluted barrel. Finished with a plain HS Precision standard stock.
So to build your own version of the M24, You just need a long action with a 26" barrel chambered in 308 and find an HS Pro M24 stock.

Thank you for the information. Much appreciated. I knew the barrel was different, but didn’t know about the action or the stock.
The US Army used a long action because they wanted the option to swap the rifles from 308 to 300 Win Mag as needed. They never did that though.
The 700 PSS (Police Sniper Special) is a really good stop gap. Sadly they are no longer made and getting harder to find even used. They have a 24" heavy contour barrel and the same stock as the LTR.
They actually made the M24 with a long action because they intended to use up leftover match 30-06 ammo. They then decided not to do that and chambered them in .308. Later on, they used the actions from lots of M24s to build the M2010 .300WMs.
