Just curious.... we had an heated debate the other night at my gun club on the merits of the JLock.... My buddies love them, some of them despise them.

Any feedback ? Who loves them ? Both my M700's have the newer shroud WITHOUT the JLock... :dancingbanana:

Let the debate rage on.....

I'd fall into the despise it group. I had it lock on me with the bolt closed and if that happens it is a ##### to get it unlocked. I've replaced mine with a non-J-lock system.

crap & potential problem wiuth very little real benefit - keeps lawyers happy. if you need a lock get a real one that can be removed when you use the gun

the Remington website on the difference between police and express 870's mentions that they omit the j-lock on police shotguns as an advantage

I personally found the JLock to give the bolt a gritty feel when I had one on my 700VS (22-250) I always swap mine out if I get one and I will generally swap my shroud firing pin and spring with an aftermarket one because I never could leave things alone.

It can screw up all by itself, mine either did or someone messed with it when I wasn't looking but when I went to use the rifle it was locked with the bolt closed. It is not easy to unlock if locked closed.
