remington made in canada ??? info

I have a rem 870 i just picked up that has made in canada on it
anyone got info on this??
did not know they made them hear, let me know be for i go sandblasting the thing

Just where on the 870 is it marked "made in Canada"? barrel? receiver?

Remington used to maintain a Canadian address in the '60's early '70s. I have Ithaca shotguns marked made in Canada. They were actually assembled in Canada of US made parts in Dunnville. This was back in the glory days when US arms companies kept Canadian facilities. Probably the same idea with your 870.

its marked of the barrle
but the serial # is very short, and not the same as other wingmasters

I believe a few savages are still made in Canada...

As far as the 870 goes, there are some barrels being made now in Canada, I believe Dlask is making them.

I recall a thread where it was mentionned that Long Branch did assembly work under contract, trying to keep the doors open. I have a similar 870, "Made in Canada" on the barrel. Can also remember going past a building with a Remington sign on the West side of TO, maybe on Lakeshore.
All Savage rimfires are currently manufactured in Lakefield ON.
