I wonder if they will have a cone breech? I see they have a few traditional African chamberings so maybe. Hope they feed better than my new Ruger 77.

Wonder if they're makin em with three rings of steel.:D

I think it's a Mark X.

Exactly

Here's some information from the Charles daly site

Zastava Firearms Discontinued
Effective January 1, 2006, we are no longer importing any products from Zastava of Serbia. All of our Mauser and Mini-Mauser bolt action rifles, barreled actions and actions as well as our Superior II rimfire rifles and the ZDA pistols are now discontinued. Zastava has decided to join with Remington Arms for now, so in the very near future you should be able to purchase Mauser (Remington Model 798), Mini-Mauser (Remington Model 799) and Zastava rimfire rifles (Remington Model Five) for approximately 10% more than you were paying for the Charles Daly brand. We don’t think Remington will be selling actions or barreled actions but that remains to be seen. We do know that Remington will not be selling the ZDA pistol.

There are still some inventories of Charles Daly Mausers, Mini-Mausers, actions and barreled actions in the channel of distribution. We suggest you buy them now before you have to pay 10% more for the exact same product, if you can get it at all.

Interesting route Remington is taking...first with Baikal, then with Zastava. What's next? Norinco????

It's all very interesting. Who knows where it will go from here, But ................gasp.............I never cared for the model 700's, nope, never. A change to these actions might make me actually buy a Remington.....of some description.

We will see....getting old and hard to re-train. Sako/Bruno/CZ.............

Cheers!

Like most retail industries, diversify or your competitor will. Also, find the most profitable way to make product then stick your lable on it.

Remington has an enormous customer base and is losing all sorts of sales due to a very narrow product line (ie Remington made rifles). Why not just outsource the R&D, production, risks, costs, inventory to another supplier?

Plus you get a great product (arguably a BETTER product) at LOWER costs that enhances your product line (CRF and PF) - More profit...

Sounds alot like the walmart/home depot school of business economics. And yes, Norinco would be on that list except for import bans still in existence.

Don't be surprised if the next gen of Rem 700 are stamped ASSEMBLED in the USA, not made in the USA.

That was my read on it also, Jerry, just look at what Winchester has done!
I like a '98 action far better than the Remingtons, also!

Coming soon to a WalMart just across the border from you. Wally had the adl type Rems for $296 in Az in Jan. At least $150 less than Cdn dealer I would think. Mark

That mini mauser action in 223 is a pretty lil thing.A little easier on the eyes than the CZ with that hang down mag.I was opting for a CZ or Charles Daly but didnt like the mag on the CZ, Or the glossy stock on the Charles Daly.Think now I will wait for Rem with an oil finished stock.
Bravo Remington!

I have one of the Mini's in 223. Bought as a barrelled action. Feeds and shoots great. Rem won't be making these but may be stocking some. The Rem oiled stocks and cut checkering will be a nice touch. Mark

Look up the massive debates on control round feed (CRF) and push feed in a hunting rifle for dangerous game.

You will be busy for a while reading the very so slight but important differences...at least to those who care to debate these differences.

I had very close look at these at the Remington booth. There are two main improvements over the CD and previous Zastava guns. The stocks are WAY better and the finishing of the metal is better. The old guns gad rough file marks all over the action, for the most part these are gone on the Rems.
