Remington Making 98 Mausers for 2006

Frankonia's Mauser 98's are manufactured by Brno.

What about the Luger L99 (available in left hand in 7x64 and 30-06) and the M98 and M98G that Kettner sells? They seem ok and are not too expensive.
They also list an M98 Safari in .404 Jefferey.

Do you have a web site for those guns Kettner sells? My quick Google search didn't turn up anything but clothes catalogues.

Thanks,
Dean

.458 Win. Mag. 26" Brown Laminated 46 1/4" 7 89837 $839 Wait... it's up on the Remmy website now.

Base model MSRP is only $599US - that's less than a Montana Mauser receiver alone.

Looks like I found my birthday present!:D Only way they could make it better was to chamber it in .458 Lott! If they did that, well, I'd be in heaven!:D

I'm thinkin' that a fellow is better off with a couple of really nice guns like this, than a whole closet full of run-of-the-mill stuff, including pumpguns.

I agree. This thread induced me into looking at prices. I have found lots of beautiful Magnum Mauser rifles for sale. Some are original, and some are new production, like Granite Mountain Arms. Prices ranged from ~US$2500 for a bare action in the white to US$24,500 for this original .416 Rigby, circa 1928. It comes with a full history and has probably been fired less than 100 times!

I also found an exhibition grade Dumoulin Magnum Mauser in .505 Gibbs. Replacement value is pegged at US$50,000+, however it can be yours for a paltry US$29,500:

On the other hand, Montana Rifleman is offering a special "charter issue" price of US$525 for their Professional Hunter action, which will handle up to .505 Gibbs length cartridges. Cheap like borscht, isn't it!:D

Super Cub :

IMHO, your logic is flawless. Go for the quality, but, choose carefully.

Handled one of the new '98 Mausers about a month ago with the Mauser Factory Rep ( on his way to the SHOT Show, travelling with the Blaser Rep. )
The 03 Mausers are technical little marvels. the Blasers really cute, but that big square bridge Mauser '98 in .375 was one fine lookin' piece ! Supposedly faithfully built from the original 1936 Magnum Mauser drawings. Sweet ! As an option, though, I would hold out for the "horizontal" (Winchester style) safety rather than the Mauser "Wing" safety.

If they make it in LH, definitely it'll be worth the price of admission.
