I'm having a hard time finding a way to use this grip without getting smacked in the thumb during recoil, especially when configured with the pistol grip only. Thumb over barrel c clamp style kind of works, but has anyone figured out a better way to grip it?

I shoot them with my thumb somewhat braced against the forward lip, but then I've got small hands.

I was wondering if that would be an issue. I think there is an earlier style without the side, I would think that would be more comfortable.

Considering it's use as a breacher, security is probably more useful than preventing nerve damage in your thumbs.

I was going to get one of these forends when they were up for preorder, but then I remembered I had already tried out adding handstops to the MOE forend on my Tac14 build and then jamming my hands against them while firing. Not a problem when firing lower powered loads, but even higher powered bird loads were uncomfortable after a few shots. I decided to save the money and use something else in place of any MCS fantasies I might have.

I agree when it's set up with the 10" barrel, but most of the MCS in Canada have the 18" barrel on them. I would like to accumulate all the barrels someday...

I gave a good handling of one before buying my own, and as someone that shoots shottie with his pointer finger forward, I had to give it a minute or two. I find that if you turn your wrist in a little (left hand clockwise if a rightie) and ride the thumb up along the barrel, then it's actually really comfortable....that is until you run 10 shots through it, then you better be wearing gloves.

I bought and sold mine with out even taking it out of the package. It was just too cool not to have, but figured I'd stick with the retro LaserProducts forend I already had.

Nice, as always.

Anyway I wholeheartedly recommend the Serbu or Safety Harbor style folding foregrip over the MCS, easier to actuate and much more secure.

Did you import that? I have the 18” that was commonly sold, the pistol grip and the M4 style stock. I’m not sure if I can import the other barrels or source stuff like the mag tube cap.

An importer did it for me a while ago, not sure if it can be done again nowadays.

Yes it's an original Remington 10" barrel.

Dlask makes a 10 inch tube, and while I'm not certain, it has a different lug placement than either the 8 1/2 or the 18.

I have one, I would just like all the correct parts eventually. Some are pretty hard to find, I can’t even find out what shell carrier they used.
