Might have to get me one of these. 22 Hornet or 223 or a handy 7.62x39?

Remington 799

Anyone played with one yet?

OMG 7.62x39?
Oh very tempted, I am. :)
Dare I ask what they want for these rifles?

Was just at the Remmy site, these 799's are all $599 U.S.

Full length 798's are $599 for basic calibers to $839 U.S. for the 458 Win.

I was suprised the 799 is 6 3/4lbs. It would make the ultimate mountain gun if they had shaved it to 5 1/2 and kept the action long enough to house the 308 to 7 mauser length type of cart. But that is for another thread.

I bet these toys can shoot!

They are reviewed in august's 'shooting times' and july's 'guns and ammo' - seems they're not especially accurate (2")...

Why do they always go with 1 in 12 twist. That gun needs a 1:10 or 1:9. The stock is a huge improvement over the ZCZ factory stocks. I had a achance to look at one at the SHOT Show.

I would be interested in one in 7.62X39mm, wonder what the bore size would be on that? I have lots of imi brass, and dies for this cal.

Since Zastava make a lot of AK's, I would say .310, unless Remington asked them to change it.

it's probably like the mini-30 - a 308 bore, but with a nice long tapered throat to swage down the .310 surplus bullets that you KNOW people will be using with it, even if they're told not to

They're basically the same rifle as the Charles Daly Mini-Mauser (with the exception perhaps of better wood on the Remington.)

Interestingly enough, Charles Daly has dropped them from their line. I wonder what happened there?

I asked CD a few years ago if they would make a left hand barreled action in 7.62x39mm; and was told no. Today I talked to Remington and they don't offer any of them in left hand. Damn!

Naw, you're right Minshall.

As someone else pointed out; I believe they're made at Zastava.

I'm just pissed that CD would make a left-hand .223 but not a 7.62x39mm, and now Remington won't make either.
