Need help reassembling a Mod 12 Rem 22 pump . Problem is wile removing bolt & pump from receiver there was a flat steel piece 2.5" long & 1/8"wide that came out with the bolt & pump not sure where it goes .

It fits in a groove between the barrel and the action bar and is what allows one cartridge at a time to feed from the mag. Goto http://stevespages.com/ipb-remington-12.html it is part 18 cartridge retainer and it fits into part 27 action bar. Don't lose it or break it , your Model 12 will not work as a repeater without it.

Thanks good pic, but no info on reassembly . this thing is driving me crazy
 
So is there no one out there with a mod 12 or 121 that knows the trick on reassembly on one of these 22's . All I can find is pic's of parts in the gun . even the old manual dose not mention this part (cartridge retainer) . When I disassemble it . I removed the take down screw , separated the barrel receiver from the trigger/butt stock section. then removed slide & bolt from receiver then the cartridge stop fell out & I did not see how it was positioned . spent over a hour last night trying to reassemble with no luck
