Remington Model 14 follower prob

Just give me a second, think I figured it out...... brought mine up to look at your load gate compared to mine. Yours is shorter by 3/8" or so. see if you can measure the recessed shoulder forward to the end of the gate itself, where the cartrige slides in.

I will work at getting a pic loaded in the mean time.

The relieved straight portion of my gate is .590" give or take a couple thou. Now my pics are loaded they both look the same, but I can see your plunger is going too far, the gate must be the culprit.

Plunger *should stop in the right location regardless of spring length but it might make loading it uncomfortable when your thumb dislocates and folds over backward.

A smithy is your best bet, don't take anything I've said as gospel as I am not that well versed in these guns, I just know how hard it is to get help on these old girls, they aren't overly popular.

I have had a few of these, I took one into a gun shop and the guys behind the counter had never heard of the model before. They even had a used one for sale and knew nothing about it!!!

no, youve been a ton of help!
are there different sized plungers i wonder?
maybe someone substituted the wrong one.
yours is 25 remington? mine is 32 remington, and yet the plungers seem to be the same size....hmm

is your plunger tight in the bore of the magazine (where its stopped against the gate)

It's kind of a shame isn't it. :( The look on peoples faces when they see me hunting with these things can only be described as sensory overload. "you can get ammo for that!?"

Not sure if there are different plungers, but I can make one oversize on the lathe.;)
The 25,30and 32 all use the same case and all the plungers job in life is to push on lead so a flat tip to me would be a great solution for all three calibres and cheaper for the REM-UMC to stock.

Mine is tight under the gate, I cannot make it wiggle at all.

im playing with a piece of 1/2" steel rod right now, and it seems to be a nice snug fit in the loading door area and also actually stops on the loading door!

im thinking that I should probably send you the mag tube assembly so you can test fit the plunger your making. and i may as well give you the OEM plunger, if you want it. It apparently does me no good, other that cause a headache

do you want to Pm me you address?

I can make you a plunger in a heartbeat, as long as you have a drill and file it will be done without having to tear down your rifle. I'd rather have a plunger get lost in the mail than your whole mag. You're call. Might take a little while to get it done and back in the canoe heading westward (paddling upstream is slower).

good point, old reliable canada post....
If you could make me a follower ill try the final fitting myself, if that fails I can send you the mag at that point, but i agree, it would suck to have CP lose it

and yes I do have a drill and files for fitting it...

might i add THANKYOU!
