I have a 25, 30 and 32 in M14's but never shoot them. I had a collection of remington pump rifles at one time and still have a lot of them. Well made quality rifles but are not really in vogue or in demand these days. There are definetly better calibres for a hunting rifle these days but these are still fun guns to shoot or hunt with......and many of them can be picked up at very reasonable prices these days. Being a lefty I've always prefered the pump action rifles......just a matter of preference.

I had Remington's 870's,2 Model 12's but I was looking for a pump that I could maybe go hunting with..
Then when I was not even thinking of getting a 14,2 of them came up at very low prices, I could not resist and I bought one in .32rem Unfortunatly it is missing the cartridge stop and slide cover..trying to find the parts but no luck yet..
I sure would like to see some pics of the .25rem if you have some

I think Magnumitis must be one reason you see so many 14's and 141's for sale these days. I recall trying to find one for sale 25 years ago, and they were pretty thin on the ground!
Congrats on your purchase. Try Ellwood Epps for the parts as well as dies and brass. They likely have what you need.

I have one in 35 Rem. I used to go the local dump and shoot rats with it, using cast bullets and about 12gr of unique. Very nice rifle to shoot quickly.
With a good scope it is an excellent deer rifle. 35 rem was and still is a good deer caliber.

Hunting partner had one in 35 Remington. Back at the tent, after morning hunt, partner pumped the cartridges out of it. I watched him cycle it once after last the shell came out, open the action and look in the chamber.
He then handed it to me to look at, as that was the first time he had that rifle. I asked if he minded if I tried the trigger? He said to go ahead. So, I cycled the action, aimed at a rock on a sidehill, squeezed the trigger, and BANG!
Shortly after that I read where some 35 Remington pumps have a nasty trait of ocassionally having the last cartridge hang up in the magazine.
The ranchers cattle were also on that hillside, but from years of rifle handling, I was careful where I aimed as I pulled the trigger, but it still was a scare.

I've a very early one in .30 Rem. These rifles are very well made (take a look at the machining inside if you get a chance), have great balance and aren't heavy, fits me very well, the cartridge is a very capable deer getter with low recoil, and the trigger is pretty decent. What's not to like?

I just was lucky enough to get my hands on a .30Rem C26XX,should be first years production,aren't these refered to as ''experimental guns'' and are they as good as the last years production??

My Uncle in the hungry 30`s used a Rem 14 in 25Rem, right up to 1945 as the picture shows.
Whoever inherited the rifle sold it or something. I had to get a replacement. This one is too early to be exactly like Leif`s, you will see his has a tang sight. This 1913 DOM rifle was not factory D&T`d for them. Bore is like new so I dare not pass on it.
My Gramma`s neighbor (a generation older) used one too in 25 Rem. It could in fact be the same gun Leif bought from him later on. His has the leaf sight on it so it may not be the same gun.
Spent cases found on the homestead.
Took 18 years to figure out what caliber Leif used in his 14. Yeah, you could say I am stubborn in tracking some things down.
Even aquired some origonal loaded 25Rem cartridges with the early U primer just like the ones found in the field.

I hope to get a 14 in 32 Rimless as some called it from my Wife`s Unlce. It goes way back in their family tree and since no one there likes thunder sticks I may as well take care of it.
Noel, I will say it again, I certainly admire your historic nature. You have a great collection of pictures, and homestead related items. Being able to name people in old photos adds so much more to them.
It's interesting that also currently running on these postings is a looong thread, on the pros, and mostly cons, of shooting moose with the 257 Roberts. The 257R is a power house, compared to a 25 Remington, but the stupid moose they had in those days just layed down and died when hit by such calibres as a 25 Remington.
