This was sold on a US site today, anyone seen one before? I have only seen them in books myself, thought you all might like to see it.

Sort of looks like some other model of rifle. Also anyone want to guess what it sold for?

Well that's the first time I read about this one, thanks for posting! Interesting evolution from the Model of 1917 I suppose...

Must find more info about it now, and to think I wanted to call it a night early... ;)

I have seen them sell for 1000-1500$, so I am guessing in that range. If they had been made for an American contract one could only imagine what it would sell for, but foreign orders in foreign chamberings never seem to do as well.

Well your pretty well spot on, it sold for $1400, which I thought was really cheap, only 3,000 were made and who knows how many now exist, I have read that there was no known examples. Also it was a South American (Honduras) ordered military rifle.

Interesting for sure. And you can certainly see the P14/17 Enfield heritage. Particularily in the dog leg bolt handle and safety switch. Any idea if it's still a #### on close, or if they changed it up to #### on open? I can't seem to get a good close up look at the rear of the bolt on my phone.

It was #### on close, they just took what parts were left over after making the last M1917's and used the to make this small run of rifles to fill the Honduras contract.

Now have any of you people seen the 8x57mm ones? I have pictures of them as well and they are also very rare.

They come up almost every year, a few through auction houses, but they rotate through on gunbroker etc from time to time.

Remington also produced 2 sporting rifles based on the M1917 action. These were the Model 30 produced in the 1920s-1930s and the Model 720 which was produced in the early 1940s. Both of these were targeted at the same market as the Winchester model 70.
