The only down side to owning a 597 is that there is no speed loader as yet for it.

i say go for it, i'm going to, had a hands on with one at the range 2 weekends ago and it was a well built firearm for the money.

I am not bashing the 597, I am just to devoted to the 10/22, mine runs perfect after the volq extractor was added. I will have to say go SR 22 plus there are tons of mods and aftermarket parts you can do to it.

So i bought it... i am happy to say the least, borrowed an eotech holo sight to test it out and it shot great, was using federal ammo, had a couple failures to eject shot 100 rounds maybe 3 in total, i was told by the store that the federal would have a couple failure to ejects because they dont have enough power, but with premium ammo it will function flawlessly.

Do the trigger change the ejector and adjust the rods and you will never have a problem with any ammo and your VTR will shoot like a dream.

HA HA we have another convert klrklr! I love mine and shoot it all the time with all kinds if ammo. try the wichester 333 packs they work great!

I recently recieved my new VTR. It got to me really quick from Frontier (first class people). I was a little worried by all the different opinions and claims that it is a lemon, but I really liked the opportunity to get it with the adjustable stock. I plunked down my money and.......
Brand new out of the box, threw a cheap red dot sight on and went out with a mix of old ammo (400 rounds) and it worked beauty. Seven rounds out of the day were FTF and not a problem with ejection. It was only the one type of ammo that didn't feed and it was really waxy. Even with this stuff, it would only FTF the second round if my mag was loaded to twenty five. Twenty? No Problem! Same ammo in the 10 round mag worked great, even when loaded with 10. What It really seems to like (or I really like) are the CCI Stingers. 50 rounds of these in two 30 round Rem magazines back to back as fast as I could fire = big grin, a bunch of holes in a piece of sheet metal, and laughter.
It is, at this time more than accurate enough for me. Seems to hit what I point it at out to 100 yards. No targets with five round groups (I'll try that soon enough), just cans, left over clay pigeons, and other interesting stuff I found in a pit.
Overall first impression is that I like this little rifle, it's fun as hell and cheap fun at that!
