remington model 597 vtr

I called Cabelas last Wednesday, they had 6 in stock. So I ordered one. It should be here this week... Not doubting the on hold thing, so maybe I might just give them a call.
 
this is kinda cool, i was considering a 10/22 with the "kit" but this seems real interesting. what is the regular 597 like? comments
 
I didn't get a chance to see if there was any stock on these I was busy all day, I did ask one of the other guys in the dept. about stock and was told that we have sold out of them over the weekend both instore & mail order... if I remember I will look it up to confirm this. I did find out that if you guys want you can back order this if you like, this will at least get you in line for one. there selling like hot cakes. did I say there unrestricted. :rockOn:

I called last night, they are sold out and shipping this week.

They knew nothing about a recall, and were not told to hold any guns.

Not suggesting anything, just relaying what I was told

The remington looks tempting, but there are too many reports of poor shooting 597's for me to lay down any cash for one, no matter how cool it looks, until someone confirms that it shoots decently.
 
I like that 10/22 as well.
Overall Length: 32.35" - 35.25"
Barrel Length: 16.12"
= Non restricted

It's nice Ruger wants to be a 21st Century Company.

The 597 is very reliable and shoots better as far as accuracy goes out of the box than the rugers.

However, at first, and the second attempt had very poor magazines. The third attempt pretty much solved the problem.
 
It's not like you need the "furniture" if you're buying into this variation. There are aftermarket accessories.
 
nobody have it right now ? I think i'm going to wait for a complete range report and a complete inspection

some pics of the fit and finish are welcome ...

how many times it took between the u.s. exit of this rifle and the canada importation
(just to have an idea for the ruger SR22)

There we go, I just changed my pants - now I can ask about the SR-22.... :jerkit: I take it it's going to be more expensive than the VTR?? Sure looks puurrrdy... :)

I also take it there's no info as to whether or not it's restricted or non-restricted?
