The previous M7 thread #### on here got me craving one so I started reading up on them and am seeing some really poor reports from owners as far as accuracy goes. So my question to the folks that actually use them - are they as prone to accuracy problems as I read on other forums or is your real life experience better?

I am not looking for .5 moa, just realistic repeatable hunting accuracy

I have a laminated stock Model 7 in 7mm SAUM. When I do my part it is very accurate. Calm day it is 3 shots down to .6 sometimes.5 inches at 100yds. Not only that but when I put it 2.4 inches high at 100 I just aim dead centre at the 200 and 300 yard gongs and Klang! One of my favorites.

If I could figure out how to do actual pix...

There's an old saying that claims only accurate riles are interesting.
I have 10 Model Seven rifles, and they are all very interesting.

My M7 in 7mm-08 usually groups around .75 to 1.5" with any 140g factory load and little effort on my part.

I will tell you with %100 confidence and 10 years experience ... its NOT the model 7 that has the problem's that owners speak of when it comes to accuracy, Its the narrow contour barrel. I currently own one on my original 700 Titanium and my dad has one on his model 7. After a few months of bedding and rebedding when we first started playing with these barrels we learnd that they are DEADLY accurate when bedded around 7 inches forward of the lug.

I know several of extremely reputable smiths that have trouble with and hate those barrels because they have not had the time to play with the bedding when cutting chambers for a living and only bedded under the chamber like you would a #3 or #4 barrel with little success

If you buy a model 7 with the light weight barrel or the new 700 mountain ... which I personally recommend them , and you have problems ... bed 7 inches forward of the lug and find your load ... IT WILL SHOOT !

Get your model 7 and enjoy your new mountain rifle !

I bought my son a Model 7 in .260 about a year ago. Its a beautifully handling rifle however we have not been able to get great groups with factory ammo! We seem to get about 3" @ 100yds, we havnt tried any handloads yet. I find the factory trigger to be about the worst Ive ever had on a new rifle.

Most of our hunting is shots well under a hundred yds. So while its a joy to carry, its not a pleasure to shoot!

This is the same problem my dad had before he figured out how to properly bed the rifle ... I will add those Tupperware stocks they come with are not doing them any favor's either. Mt alskan ti and his mod 7 are in 7-08

Owned a SS/laminated 7-08 awhile back that was nothing spectacular in the accuracy department. 1.5-1.75".
It was very finicky and load development was a chore. It was bedded by the previous owner, and I'm sure with some more time spent I could have brought it around.
I'm currently on my second CDL in 350 rem mag. The first was consistently an inch or hair above, my current one is under an inch without even trying. I really feel it's the short and thick barrel on the 350RM that makes it more accurate. I was going to re-barrel during a custom build, but in all honestly it shoots so well I'll just leave the factory pipe on it.
