Remington Model 7 Aftermarket Stocks

I just restocked a model seven with a B&C and it was brutally heavy and as others have mentioned very thick through the forstock, so we switched it out for a Wildcat, I would go with a Wildcat or a McMillan, I actually preferred the feel of the factory stock over the B&C,
Wildcat Stock about 18-20oz finished, takes two weeks at the most to receive $425.00 to your door and about the same at a smith to finish, tough as nails, I’ve used about 20 of them and no better stock made if your looking for an Ultralight stock.
Made in Alberta Canada

Looking to replace my factory stock on my Model 7 SS in 308. A friend has the B&C stock which seems decent and I have one that worked out well on my Tikka 300wsm. As this gun is a model 7 and fairly light to begin with I wouldn't mind keeping it light and so I have been drawn the Mcmillan Edge. I am wondering if the McMillan is twice the stock as the B&C since it works out to about twice the price. Anyone have experience with the Mcmillan, B&C or other stocks?

I've owned Brown Precision (brown pounder) and thought that it was of great quality. I now have a B&C stock on my custom Winchester and have no issues with it. Extra weight has never been a concern while hunting, and I'm 61 years old. The B&C is of great quality, very rigid and nice textured grip. Great stock for a rifle build or to replace a manufactures stock.

McMillan hunters edge on a M7 7RSAUM.

The Brown Mod 7 stock dimensions, with the near perfect cheek piece for light weight, low mounted optics. They mitigate recoil well, with the kevlar giving a snappier translation.
Makes ultralights point like a British upland 28ga. This offsets the Premiums.

My M600 Pound'r had one of the most practical finishes I have used on a synthetic hunting stock, the discontinued McM camouflage cloth.

I don't know how Banished managed to finagle McM into using their finish on a Brown Precision stock, but am thankful for the introduction. It provides a sound deadening, is warm to the touch and tactile finish. Not only is it durable, but more pleasing to my eye than hydro-dip.

I have since wanted to attempt to duplicate this finish on other synthetics, as it eliminates a great deal of surface prep gremlins mentioned previously.

This is a model 7 with a wildcat stockE0D7DFEB-B1F2-415A-BD79-4739968BED16.jpgFCA9C0AE-34C7-4FBF-85C7-FBCF67CB149B.jpgFCA9C0AE-34C7-4FBF-85C7-FBCF67CB149B.jpg3ED02899-D4EC-4D1A-893B-3C4E321DB180.jpg

I have heard good things about wildcat but the downside being I wouldn't do the inletting myself. The drop in factor of the McMillan is what caught my interest and seemed to make the price more justifiable. If I am into a wildcat stock for $500 ish and then gunsmith charges to inlet and bed maybe I end up around the same price as the McMillan?

The McMillan would still require bedding for proper fit, so not totally 100% drop in.

I’ve been happy with McMillan Edges up until now. I’ve got one for a T3 and discovered this fall that it has cracked behind each of the pillars. McMillan will look after it as soon as I send it in but it shouldn’t have happened I’m the first place.

Okay has anyone talked about the HS Precision stock as a fit for the Model Seven . The new Model Seven coming out in S.S. in 6.5 Creedmoor this year has that stock . Maybe you could order that stock

This is my only Model 7. Formerly a Model 7 Predator which has been de-predatorized. Now has a Wildcat stock, Timney trigger, cerakoted and fluted and skeletonized bolt.
Weighs in a 6lbs 13oz with a VX3 scope on it.

I ended up with a Model 7 last summer from trade on a couple items but wasn't really happy with the cheap plastic stock. One hunk of wood, a bunch of hand tools and a couple weeks later this is what it sits in now. Can't say I'm too disappointed being my first gun stock from a blank. Chambered in 7SAUM for those that care.
