Not really a gunsmithing question, but one gunsmiths may have heard before...

The Remington Model 7 Synthetic stock has a goofy fitting recoil pad. Does anyone know if any manufacturer makes a replcement cushy pad for that stock? I've looked without success...

Thanks, Troutseeker

"...a goofy fitting recoil pad..." Too short? Too long? Just ugly? Most of the pads I saw on a quick net search are for the wood stock. A slip on will work though.

Why don't you just have a gunsmith install a good quality pad on your rifle? While he has the rifle he could cut the stock or add spacers to give you a proper fit, and pillar bed it, which is a nice feature on a wood stock.

Does your existing pad fit partially inside the stock? Have a look at the Limbsaver web site. They have soft ones which are the ones that Remington sold as the R3 Recoil pad. I have them in stock. Send me an e-mail if you are interested.

The Model 7 synthetic stock's pad fit's inside a bt, but it is a really weird way of fitting it... It's not like the R3 pads at all, there are some very odd fittings in there...

The Model 7 stock I have here takes the R3/limbsaver pad that fits the other Remington hollow stocks (870 etc). R3/limbsaver pads come in many styles and sizes.
