Remington Model 7 XCR , Stainless fluted with Camo synthetic stalk.
Anyone have one of these. Likes or dislikes?
Any input would be thankful. Tikka

Remington tupperware stocks....hmmmm! My opinion is buy the rifle for the barrelled action and sell off the stock and replace it with quality laminant or composite. Honestly I think there are better deals out there right now on stainless /synthetic rifles. 1st one that comes to mind is the old Rem 700Ti if you can snag one , then the Sako 85.

Ive handled a couple XCR Model Sevens in 7-08. The stock is tupperware but it isnt all that bad. Probably the best injection molded stock I have seen yet. They are light rifles that point well. Not inexpensive, but sometimes you have to pay for what you want

Another victim of Remington's bean counters. Only made for one season, then discontinued. A nice handling, light rifle in SS, what's not to like?:)

Lebaron has them on clearance.

Thanks Guys,
899.00 @ labarons or spend another 500.00 and get a Finnlight? HMMMM!
I'm not all the crazy about the synthetic stalk on the XCR. Would a Rem 700 7mm-08 Mountain rifle stalk fit a Model 7 XCR in .308? Or! could i set it in a Model 7 Laminated . Thanks for the heads up Blargon. I will call labarons today. Tikka

Model 7 won't fit in a 700 stock, the action is shorter. But the laminate 7 stock will work, and it'll look good too.

BTW, you can get a 700 XCR or the CDL Stainless Fluted in 7mm-08 for under $1000, but not in .308.

Ya! I want the Stainless fluted in the 20" barrel but don't really like the synthetic stalk. I had a Rem Model 7 stainless synthetic in .308 but solt it. I really like the thought of a stainless fluted 20" barrel in a .308 in Laminated stalk. I also like the model 7 CDL stalk. I may have to buy two guns and swap stalks.

Thanks. for the info. I really like your Sako .260 shoots great.:D
I thought this XCR would be a great all around MED to BIG game hunting
rifle. Light wieght, weather resistant and good looks in .308:cool:

the stock on the finnlight isnt any better than the stock on the XCR 7

you might be able to find a factory takeoff stock from a 7 LSS. Bolt that on an XCR 7 and it would be a sharp looking package. Amphibious has a LSS 7 in 308 and it is a real nice rig

Material wise its no better, but it feels nicer to hold up. Just a better shaped Mold for the injected plastic.:D

OK
I just got off the phone. I found a Rem Model 7 XCR in 7mm-08.
Yep! Model Seven 20" barrel, stainless fluted 7-08 QUESTION for you all.
I have a older Blued /Walnut drop floorplate Rem 700 Mountain rifle in 7mm-8.
Can any of you tell me if the Model 7 XCR ACTION and BARREL would fit my mountain rifle stalk? I'm not sure if I like the synthetic stalk.
I thought I was done looking at them but found one for 899.00 compared to over 1500 for a finlight. I want to find a Model 7 Laminated stalk for the XCR. I really wanted this gun in .308 but found it in 7MM-08. SO!! Here we go again. TWO 7MM-08 WOW! May have to sell one but not yet.

NOPE! Rem 700 Mountain Rifle ...700 BDL action not a model 7 (Seven)...no fit! Ellwood Epps has a Sako Model 75 grey wolf (S/S Laminant) in stock in 260 Rem with a 1:9 ROT same as your varminter which takes the same mags === heavy long range & light carry rifle with minimal load developement. And before you ask...yes it has a Lminated grey wood stock and Stainless action and barrel....oh and it a DM too boot. What will a 7mm-08 do that a 260 Rem won't....NOTHING! What will a 260 Rem do that a 7mm-08 won't...be legal for hunting critters south of Hwy 7!!!!

Got ya!
Is this greywolf the "Fluted" stainless? I like the looks of them fluted barrels.
Your 260 Sako I bought off you is one nice looking rig. Maybe I should look at the .260? Although I just bought a CDL in .270 only 3 weeks ago. :sniper: I will probably end up selling it to fund my next purchase. Easy come easy go.
Thanks for the info. I will look at epps . Thanks

The Greywolf is not fluted, and the barrel length is 22.5" They are around 1lb heavier than a finnlight.

Well, It's done. I bought a Finnlight in .308 that came up on the forum.
I passed on theModel 7XCR in 7mm-08 that was at Labaron's. Thanks for all your input guys. Take care!

Nice choice.;) If it doesn't have optilocks, make sure you get x-low or super low rings and you may want the long action bases, which will allow you more freedom to mount the scope back and forth. It depends on what scope you use.

Mine are X-low (VXIII 2.5-8x36mm) with the short action bases, but the front ring is almost too far foward, the L/A ring mounts on the back side of the base.
