Any thoughts on a new production Remington Model 700 BDL??

I am thinking about getting one in 30-06 for moose and other large game. I just love the classic looks ...

Has anybody any experience with newer production 700 BDLs?

1.) What does fit and finish look like? Has Remington gotten their act back together?
2.) How accurate are those BDLs (newer production)? What are the groups you are getting?
3.) How is the trigger?
4.) Any known issues?

I have one in 30-06 from 3 years ago. The finish is excellent, the trigger adjusted to below 3lbs and it shoots sub moa with 155 Bergers at near 3000 fps. It shot so well that I didn't even bed it. The 30-06, with Leupold mounts and a vx3. 3.5-10 weighs in at 7.5lbs empty.
A second new production bdl in 270Win is also an excellent shooter. It now has a trigger tech trigger and was bedded.
Both I bought off of here, essentially brand new for under 700$ each. Likley left over from the wholesale sports closeout gun blow out.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy a new model 700 BDL. Maybe post a WTB or watch the EE as they generally go cheap. Especially in 30-06...
I also love the classic high-gloss look of a BDL.

2.) with good ammo & good shooter they are sub-MOA easily
3.) I'm not a fan of the X-Mark Pro trigger. However, it's a decent enough hunting trigger. Send it to a smith who knows what they're doing with it and you can get a daily good hunting trigger for a minimal cost.

X2. In regards to fit and finish, the new 700 BDL I looked at recently a .30/06, seemed to be as good or better than they ever were. The 700's to avoid, IMHO, are the ones from the early '70s with the pressed checkering and flimsy stocks that would crack if you looked at them too hard. Of course, if you have it restocked these rifles will be fine, but it won't be a $500 rifle any more.

I don,t know how early 70's you are talking about but I have a '75 BDL in 30-06 and it has been on a lot of moose hunts banging around in a boat and canoe and it is still going strong. It does have that hunting rifle look though and the original trigger. Point in safe direction.......No Problem!

Hmmmm..... new production Remington 700 BDL for sale ~ $1,250 + tax.

Or vintage, minty Rem 700 BDL .30-06 picked up last year for $575.....

Things that make you go "hmmmmmm"...... :)

When I was getting into hunting in the 90s I didn’t really like the BDL, but it seems to speak to me now, just a classic old school appeal.
 
The newer models have the X-Mark Pro triggers. Had some that were decent and a few that pulled heavier than a steel door, and that's with the set screw totally removed.
On the older models prefer the Walker Triggers and on the newer models have swapped in the Timney Elite Hunter Trigger, real nice trigger.
The X-Mark Pro Trigger breaks fairly crisp & clean, just heavy as heck, check trigger pull on newer models before buying
 
I have, in recent years, seen more new 700's which lacked ANY primary extraction than ever before. I can't believe they have not addressed this issue.

I have to agree, there seems to be a batch of them that got by quality control... The last one in my shop was going back to Remington for bolt replacement...

but I still favour 700's.

Fit and finish is excellent .... not one thing that I can complain about ....

Remington is still in business .... they only filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. And they have done this (or similar) countless times in the last 200 years.
