I have one in 22-250, topped with an old Weaver K10. For a non-"varmint class" gun ,it is very accurate.

The 788 were one of the best inexspesive rifles made in their day, i sold a 7mm-08 to arch1965 and it was one very accurate rifle i wished i kept it, but i know it could'nt have a better home.

I own a 308 and a 222 in this rifle style, in Saskatchewan, many whitetail deer fell to the 30 calibre rifle.
As long as I loaded to within book "spec" or used factory ammo these two rifles never let me down. I think you will be very happy, with that purchase.
