Hello My Gurus! My old but great model 8 is starting to "stovepipe"rounds. Any clues to why? I've had it apart but not the mag spring/follower.When pushed up&down it seems to function well.Ammo was factory winchester 200gr SP. I'm going to try some handloads and see what transpires there. All in all, its agreat shooter and I want to deer hunt this fall using it but hesitate ,however the first round always works! any clues or suggestion are appreciated. Also need a screw for a Marbles rear peep . JITC:confused: :)

OK, the fired case is pulled from the chamber, but instead of being thrown clear, it gets caught when the bolt closes?
Your Model 8 is a long recoil auto loader. Barrel and bolt recoil all the way back locked together, bolt unlocks, barrel returns foreward. As it does the case stays held on the boltface by the extractor. Once the barrel clears the case, the ejector should pivot the case around the extractor and out. Instead of being flicked clear, its being caught by the bolt when it is released and is closing. Check the ejector, and make sure it is OK and clear. Check the extractor, make sure nothing is interfering with it.
