Not really sure.
Hey everyone.

Well I was really suprised and excited when I discovered the Remington model 8 and 81's. They look like a really nice vintage rifle.

So question is, what are they worth, what chamberings do you recommend in them and any other advice owners/previous owners could share would be great!.

Thanks guys.

I have had a Mod. 8 in 35 Rem. for almost forever, totally reliable and very accurate, a good rifle for timber hunting.
As for value, I can't help you there, maybe some others can help you out.
The 35 Rem. is the only chambering aside from 300 Savage in the Mod. 81 that factory ammunition is still available.... I think.

$400 for a rifle in very good condition for the uncommon calibers of .25, .30 and .32 Remington. I'd wager $600-$700 and on rifles in .35 Remington and .300 Savage. Far up and away for FN 1900s and fancier grades of Model 8s and 81s. I have a 1917 Model 8 in .30 Remington. Great rifle, and one of John Moses Browning's finest creations.

I had an excellent Model 81 in .32 Rem back in the mid 80's. It shot
straight & functioned like a charm. Only reason I sold 'er was ammo
was getting too scarse. Lovely guns though. They're funky, yet solid.
;)

I have a model 8 in 35rem and a model 81 in 300sav. They are great old rifles, and fun to shoot. I have killed alot of deer with my 300sav. I just love the old things, lol.

Have a 1906 made 25-35Rem. As to value, it is in the eye of the beholder. I got hosed on mine but I've never seen another in 25 up here that was for sale so what's a guy to do.
The little bugger doesn't want to eject so it is more like a spring loaded bolt action. Really need to get it working if any of you boys know who I could send it to. Thinking the barrel springs may have been assembled in the wrong order by one of its previous owners.

I have a ton of fun shooting these , but you need to roll your own if it is not chamber for 35 rem. The 25 rem has different springs than the 30 cal. and quite often are replaced wrong springs.
