I'm looking for the 12 gauge 26" barrel Wingmaster which seems to be unavailable at the moment. One of the limited edition models came up for about $300 more and I'm curious what the community thinks about this one. It has the same basic specs I'm looking for, but with additional dress-up. I'm seeing conflicting information about whether it is a step up or step down from the Wingmaster branded guns. None of the materials from Remington identify it as a Wingmaster, but a number of retailers and reviewers do. One YouTube video specifically called it an in-between model.

Can anyone sort out the conflicting information, or have actual hands-on experience with this gun?

Thanks.

I don't have EE clearance yet unfortunately.
After rewatching the last video and doing a bit more research I can see that he's got the Commemorative Edition and not the Limited Edition, so we can discard that bit of conflicting info.
My goal is to find a reliable gun that won't give me trouble while I'm learning. At this stage of the game I'm much more interested in learning to shoot than to tech out on a problematic gun. Budget is less of a concern than quality, so I don't have a problem with the $1000-1300 price tag. I'm also not in a rush, but I do have a tendency to let purchase ideas eat at me until I just go ahead and order something so that I can sleep.

I have the 200 th yr wingmaster ltd edition it is butter smooth high luster bluing AA to AAA wood attention to detail. That’s why it’s $1,600.00

Who knows what quality the new owners of Remington will produce after their bankruptcy, split-up and buyout.

I'm thinking these new old-stock 870's are a great opportunity to buy one of the best from a bygone, American made era. They built these ones right.

Here is some advice take it for what it’s worth if you want an 870 wingmaster for the silky smooth action alone but don’t really care about the fancy blueing that won’t stay that way if you actually use it. Do like others have said buy a used one or just grab yourself a new 870 express model. Take the xtra cash saved and buy a few cases of ammo and go shoot and learn the gun before you know it that express will be every bit as smooth and reliable as that new 1700 wingmaster I have a few Remington 870 shotguns and there all just as smooth as the next one my fanciest being my 870 upland special it’s the only one I baby was my first new gun purchase when I was 16 years old and it as well as the others I have have never once let me down and I use my guns I don’t purposely abuse them but they get used my newest 870 being there new dm model runs like a Swiss watch. There is a reason why the 870 is one of the most issued shotgun around the world to military and police it’s because they work period
