Remington model CDL Quality problems?

I'm thinking of purchasing a new remington model 7 cdl. I've heard faint rumblings on various sites about poor quality from remington lately. Anyone have any problems or know of what problems exist? Let me know your thoughts. Thanks
 
I dont think you have much to worry about. Ive bought about fifteen new remington 700's in the past five years, and had no issues with any of them.
 
i am with these guys i just bought a cdl lefthand .223 , i had to adjust the trigger a bit lighter, otherewise just as great as all the other model 700s that i have bought and sold , i will buy more,,, wade
 
It's just the Internet moaners and groaners...

The 700 is still one of the best for the money out there, plus it still is the strongest and safest bolt action made.
 
I won't ever buy another Remington. The last two had numerous problems - trigger so bad it had to be replaced - bolt stop that was sticky and so the bolt sometimes fell out - bedding problem that required pillar bedding to correct - off center scope mount holes that required a special mount to align the scope - open sights mounted cocked to the right. Enough for me! I buy Sakos now.

So what model was this? A 710 perhaps?

I have the same rifle. Lightened the trigger and it's a very good shooter. Imagine it'll get even better once I finish bedding/floating it.

The 700 is a good rifle, I like the CDL alot.
 
Nothing wrong with remington's quality.After owning well over a hundred rem 700's the only problem I have ever had was an extractor break on a heavily loaded custom 458x2". I've had 7 or 8 CDL's and all have shot very well.
 
The only remington I have liked is my Model 721. The SPS I used to own didn't shoot well and with the parkerized finish it was a ##### to keep the rust under control.

I might consider one of the new CDL Limited Editions though. :)
 
I dont owned any in this moment, if I can find a good classic in 280 rem. I will buy it. I had a .308 SS with DM that was shooting 1 inch even at 100 the first time I go out with it with general brand ammo.Winchester Bal.ST 168gr. I had owned 3 other 700 with no problem at all.

Nope. 700 BDL and a 700 mountain rifle. As for being a Sako "snob" - it seems to that I am a snob if I expect full functionality for the dollar? Then I am one. Guilty as charged. People with low standards keep encouraging Remington to turn out mediocre products. Too bad, they can have them. I'd still buy a tried and true used Remington, but never a new one.

I am with the satisfied Remington owners. I keep buying them, and they keep right on making me happy with good groups, and little "tweaking" needed to achieve them. My newest is a CDL Limited in 7-08, and the last 3-shot group I fired went .34"......What's not to like? As for Sako, although generally very fine rifles, they turn out the odd "dud" also. A close friend bought a heavy 308 that never did shoot a decent group. He finally unloaded it. Regards, Eagleye.
 
I've been helping out in a gun shop lately and have had opportunity for side by side comparison of a lot of rifles. Of course I haven't shot them all so can't talk about accuracy, not can I talk about problems since I didn't own them.

I have to say the fit and finish of the Rem SPS leaves me cold. The price is good and they are a Rem 700, but I find things like floorplate latches that won't open without a dowel to press on the latch and general roughness of the finish. The owner of the shop says that the higher priced models of the Rem 700 rifles seem to have less problems than the SPS.

Honestly, the rifle that has impressed me for cost, fit and finish and apparent overall quality is the Howa 1500. Some have complained about the trigger being creepy, gritty, heavy, etc, so I tried dry firing a couple and I found the trigger to be fine. They seem to me to be a quality rifle, in fact, I think I'm going to have to buy one and try it out.
