So looking at the remington line M700, I wanted a 700 series CDL in 308 20 inch barrel.
The model seven is the scaled down verson but rail mount and parts etc I did not like.

Any idea why remington didnt make a 700 CDL with 20 inch and why isnt it offered in 308
Was it ever offered in 308, I guess I could change barrel but then there is the calibre issue.

You can't buy a rem 700 cdl in 308 win.
You have to get into a model 7 cdl and it already has a 20" barrel. And the op doesn't like the model 7.
I'd look into rebarreling a 7-08 cdl or finding an sps stainless and changing the stock, cutting the barrel.

The OP should just nut up and buy an '06.

Yeah a nice old rem 700 bdl 30-06 with a 22" barrel. Lots around and generally better shooters because they have a proper throat. Whereas the new rem 308's are often throated so long you can't seat near the lands.

True, Remington never reports making the CDL in 308 but has been rolling out different calibres to represent the refective year of each new released. 2006 was 30-06 etc. Next year being 2018, Hoping it might just happen. Strange it was never done in 308.

The model seven is a nice rifle but doesnt match my collective intent.
I had found listings of the M700 in 308 in the USA but based on remingtons published history, it couldnt be possible.

Thanks for responses, The calibre release dates by year came after this thread was posted.
Will see what happens

Even if they do make it in 308 for the "year" rifle, it would probably be Stainless/fluted with a 24" barrel.

There's a nice unfired 7mm08 CDL w/detach mag in the EE for a decent price. It'd be an easy rebarrel, a 308 Remington barrel shouldn't be hard to find.

The Remington Seven CDL is an awesome package, both the older and current models, with that said I also would like the M700 CDL to be available in 308.
