Remington, Mossberg Unveil Standout Shotguns at SHOT 2019

That new Remington folding stock is interesting, although a little long at 13.5" LOP.

It's great to see a major manufacturer finally offer one though, hopefully at some point they offer a V3 Tactical with this folding stock.

Another view of the new furniture, courtesy of Foxnews, the stock looks alright but dunno about that forend.

I like the stock set. The forend has built in hand stops with the ability to attach a strap to them.
The LOP is an 1" shorter than their standard typical length. Anything shorter is too short for many and would alienate the market
I like that they went with the 4 + 2 mag tube on this one as well.

The LOP is 1" longer than the standard length of the popular Magpul SGA stock set, which is also adjustable with spacers.

A 13.5" LOP is fine for shooting from the traditional stance but sucks if you want to shoot in the modern squared up stance, unless maybe you're huge.

I wouldn't call 12.5" standard length for the Magpul. That the length without any spacers. Other than telescopic AR tube stocks, the only other widely available 12.5" LOP stock is the youth Hogue and Mesa Urbino. 12.5" is hardly a standard LOP for shotguns and the market is far greater for 13.5" and 14.5".
12.5" is designed for youth and with the use of tactical chest gear and plates. Which guess what...turns that 12.5" length back into a 13.5" or 14.5" equivalent once that recoil pad is pressed against that 1-2" thick chest gear..

Forend length and positioning on the gun also plays a big role.

Shotgun fit is personal and definitively saying 13.5" "sucks " for " "modern" stance is extremely short sighted. It may suck for you. But you are not everybody.

This is a great video on LOP with the SGA stock. I love the SGA I have four of them on four different guns, but none of them are without spacers. Just personal preference.

Most of the SGA's on seen on actual fighting shotguns either didn't utilize a spacer or had only 1 installed.

Though really even a 12" LOP is a bit long for the vast majority of people to shoot comfortably squared up, unless its coupled with an extra long forend or a shorter than average receiver length.

It's that reach to the forend that's critical, it's no problem even for a hobbit like me from a conventional bladed stance, but even a big man can struggle when squared up and quick follow up shots are in order. Added thickness from body armor or heavy clothing only adds to the problem.

Bottom line; Remmie should have made the base length of this short shorter and offered spacers for those who want them.

i would like to know if this folding stock has any wobble at the swivel as that is a weak point on any that i have seen.

Probably some, as it looks like it uses a typical Butler Creek style hinge mechanism, but it shouldn't be a big issue on this type of weapon unless its a personal pet peeve of yours.

Just saw at SHOT that Mesa is about to start making a V3 stock adaptor to fit pistol grips/collapsible stocks.

No wiggle on this. It's a solid lock up

I would rather raddle the molars with a steel law enforcement folder than put that on my 870.

Jokes a side

- I like the fore-end with (reminds me of my moss 500 fore-end strap).

I do question its ergonomics like anything with the 870 platform, wonder how easy it is to manipulate the safety with the stock folded against the receiver.

So what was wrong with the top folder of the Police Magnum? Because it looks like that side folder might get in the way of loading.
