Remington of Old

Here are some of my old Remingtons.

The 14 1/2 appears to have not been used much. The cartridge guide and extractor seem to have not been machined properly and won’t work with Remingtons or Winchester brass as there is a very slight ballooning out in the headstamp. Maybe old Peter’s or UMC was different but STARLINE feeds fine. Has a few marks but for being over 110 yrs with DOC and rack # looks good and bore is vg.IMG_0519.jpegIMG_0520.jpegIMG_0521.jpeg

The .25 REM really has me stumped. It has a very high polish bluing but the barrel address and calibre stamp are still raised enough that a braille person would be able to read.
Just my thinking that degree of polishing would have obliterated raised edges unless it was stamped after the polishing before the bluing.
Any thoughts? Did Remington have a custom shop 95yrs ago?

Nce collection from a bygone time...

Yes, Remington of Old, or even, Remington of Gold. It's most unfortunate what occured to this firearm company. Such great guns they manufactured, somewhat sad.
