So far this is the one in the lead,

I like the idea that Magpul makes a stock for it and that it takes 9 rnds right out of the box.

We use 870s at work... Maybe that's why I prefer the Mossberg?! I agree with the 590 over a 500 suggestion tho. Better ergonomics to me. Really, it's puh-tato pah-tato.... You're good eithe way!

I tried both 500 & 870 express entry level prices and wasn't impressed with build quality, they both based on a good design however corners have been cut in order to keep production cost low.
My advice is to get a Mossberg or spend a little more and get a wingmaster, a bps browning or a benelli.

Edit: My bad for the bps I didn't notice that was on the Black and Green Shotguns sub forum :)

Chevy vs Ford anyone? I have both, differences are minor.

it's hopeless to try and explain....

1911 or Glock would be another excellent poll to have. Vanilla vs Chocolate. Lemon vs Lime. Coors Light vs Bud Light. Rain vs Fog. Llamas vs Alpacas. Shave Gel vs Cream. Chunky vs smooth peanut butter.... ok I'm done now :)

I vote for the Mossy 590. Superior ergonomics and no annoying loading gate to push out of the way when loading it up with 9 rounds. Really can't go wrong the 870 either though, if you get a good one.

yeah git that one and then podcast about it. Ive always liked those- no loading gate, better ergos IMO, but went for the 870 because I couldnt have a mossberg with 14", 18" and 24" barrels due to the 14" having an incompatible mag tube/availibility of barrels.

I voted Remington. The reason being is that Remington's factory is based in New York. There is a famous fast food chain called New York fries that specialize in french fries. French people usually come from France. France has the Eiffel tower. Eiffel 65 was a pop group from the nineties. People from the nineties are much better at water skiing, therefore Remington. Sorry Mossberg.

But for real, the debate is as useless as man nipples. Despite what some people say, the 870s and 590s are both very durable, rugged, reliable, fairly inexpensive, and (potentially) deadly shotguns. With various differences in ergonomics and features, pick which one you like best. Simple.

That's an easy one, glock, chocoloate, defintely lime, bud, fog, alpacas, gel, chunky, poll closed

Love it!
For now I'm going to keep working on my 870. Any one know where I can buy the barrel that comes on the tactical or magpul version?

Have both a 870p and a 590a1 so dont have a major stake in either camp but can honestly say I like the mossberg better (quality is about the same both will go boom for thousands of rounds but I like the feel of the mossberg better)

I was dead set on getting a Mossberg 590A1 Blackwater, but they all sold out. Ended up going with the 870 Express Tactical, but I may get a mossberg down the road when I can find one for a good price.
