remington or sako

Sako forsure...I bought my Sako 85 30-06 and it lived up to their 5 shot MOA statement easily. Very nice rifle, action is smooth and build seems really good. I don't mind the stock on the 85's, they apparently work just fine...the stainless/synthetics aren't the prettiest but if you want pretty buy a wood/blued version. Either way you would not regret having a Sako. That's all I will own now for big game rifles.

We have a few Sako A7's now in stock. Quite a few more will be here in 2-4 Weeks. I'll get them up on the thread and the website as soon as I sort through the shipment. Lots of A7's in the shipment but most are sold, however, I know there's a very few that are still available.

I wouldn't mind seeing some better closeup pics when you get time... Any SS ones yet?

A7 pics/stock

We have the following in stock: .300WSM in stainless and blued. .270 WSM in blue and 7/08 in stainless. We'll have more and different calibres in a couple/few weeks.

I'm a big Sako fan, although i prefer the A1-AV series to the 75. I found my 7mm mag 75 weighed about 10 pounds scoped. My 300 Av goes just under 8.5 lbs scoped, a nice weight for a 300 win mag.

BTW it's for ale in the EE

The 85 synthectic stock works well in all weather conditions, I do a lot of hunting on BC's wet coast and all the classic wood stock guns I have owned eventually warp. The synthetic stock with ss barrel works very well for me!!! As for looks, that is personal preference??? Be happy with whatever you choose!!!

I like the new Barvarians, I love sako rifles, but to be 100% honest I have never been dissipointed with a good 700 either, and a 700 mnt rifle is pretty sweet to carry. 9 xs out of 10 I carry the 700s synthetics in ss because you just can not hurt them and if you do it does not hurt you as much lol! A dent in plastic does not hurt as bad as a dent in a peice of walnut. Plus a 700 stock is a $100.00 to replace...

Accuracy, you wont go wrong with sako, but dont overlook the 700 either, had some frikking tack drivers..

If I buy anymore hunting rifles, I would buy sako, but I would look for L61-Rs and A series actions.

Depends what caliber.
Sako doesn't make rifles in RUM selection, but as universal rifle is a better choice in calibers like .30-06, .300WM, 7RM or so.
If you like long range shooting and do not care about weight, go with Sendero, which can be make even better with nice trigger from Rifle Basix.
On Sendero I will put something of 1-1/2 lbs, and set it up with little creep.

Yes they did. 300RUM in the Sako m75 rifle...hard to find but I have seen a couple.

Fired Sako 85 ss syn,Rem 700Bdl, Win Mod 70 Classic all are great weapons but out of the box, and if your pocket book can afford it SAKO all the way!!
Sporting rifles are not weapons unless they are used as such. The same could be said about baseball bats and kitchen knives.

.

Okay, I'll ask the stupid question: If my rifle is meant to kill a deer, elk, moose, gopher, whatever, and my time at the range is practicing for when I go to kill a deer, elk, moose, gopher, etc, then wouldn't that make it a weapon? I DO consider all my rifles as WEAPONS. To me the word 'weapon' doesn't just mean that it is to be used on humans, but rather that it's sole purpose is to KILL. And my guns are meant to KILL. That's why I have them. To kill game, whatever it might be.
Now I recognize this is just a game of semantics, but I'm not the one that brought it up.
If someone only intends on shooting paper or gongs or soda pop bottles, then I can see why they might only think of their guns as recreational tools, much like a baseball bat. A bat can be dangerous when used a certain way, and so can a rifle.
But I consider my guns, not just as recreational tools, but as tools with the sole purpose of killing game, and that's why to me they are WEAPONS. I think it makes me give them more respect, and keeps me in a safer mentality when I have them. My rifle is much more dangerous than a baseball bat. And I consider it so. When I pick it up I know that I am handling a lethal WEAPON, capable of killing someone, or something, miles away [an accidental discharge could do that].
So, yes, my guns are weapons, not just recreational sporting tools.
Go ahead and flame me at will.

I tried a few bolt action guns...
Ended up getting a Tikka. But I want a Sako 85 one day...

Its worth it. The fins have the same hunting environment as we do and every other north american made firearm that I have owned does not compare out of the box unless you customise it. The only reason I went with the synthetic stock is because I hunt in a very damp climate and wood just doesn't stand up!

Sako. Hands down. I do not think that they are even compariable.

+1 on this one.
Got one 75 SS in 300WSM and love it.Remington would only consider Sendero model maybe for target practise/range but again that is best they got after this new one.Sako has answer on both of those better REM models and beats it by mile.

I have hunted with Sako's for years, and they are excellent in every respect. From the box to 10 years down the line they are a quality product. I have shot an 85, I own a 75 and a Quad, and have hunted with several older models.

Buy one, you cannot go wrong.

As compared to Remington, older customised models come close, but not quite!

Just noticed this thread started over a year ago. The poor guy's probably picked the gun he liked, bought it, shot game with it and loves it. Or he didn't care for it and traded it in on another gun.Either gun is a good choice but when you start asking people's opinions ( me included ) it can go on forever.
