which gun would you suggest to get a remington 870 or a stoeger (cant remember the model name but it is a 3 1/2 inch as well) the stoeger comes in camo and also comes with all the chokes. i have always been a remington fan but like the stoeger.

I have both and have to say the Stoeger is very impressive. As for the service/support I would not worry about it in the least.IMO the Stoeger is a work horse an you wont have any problems with it.
JUST MY 2 cents

Rem 870 all the way.

More parts available.
More accessories available.
Easier to resell (if you had to).
Better quality than the Turkish made Stoeger (check previous threads on the Stoeger P-350 pump).

If it is the Stoeger P-350 (pump) that you are thinking of I would say buy the real thing and get the Nova instead. Or the 870.

Then again we you didn't mention if you were looking at the Stoeger pump, O/U or semi-auto model.

If you are looking at the pump, then again, get the Nova. You definitely will not regret it (that is what I have by the way).

Grow some muscles then... :p Just kidding

The 870 is a tried and true s/g with a lot of history behind it. Plus with all the aftermarket goodies available for it, it's a customizers dream shootie.

The Stoeger is outselling the Remington pump about three to one in Ontario.
The Stoeger is less expensive and comes with five chokes instead of just one.
The Stoeger is a Benelli Nova Knockoff and comes from the same parent company.
Stoeger is distributed out of Whitby Ont and the service and warranty are both excellent.
Nothing wrong with Remingtons... but there sure as hell is nothing wrong with Stoegers either.

The Remington is made of steel. The Stoeger is not so much. If you like Glock, buy a Stoeger. If you like 1911's buy an 870.

Either way, you'll be happy, the gun will be reliable and the ducks/turkey/deer/etc. won't know the difference.

FWIW, Stoeger authorized service is done through Gunco in Ottawa - probably why it's almost an "ontario brand". Remington service? just about everywhere. That being said, I LIVE in Ottawa and I shoot Remington - more out of personal preference than any advantage.

Lastly - forget 3.5" shells. pay less and get a 3" gun. Everyone I ever knew who bought a 3.5" gun shot maybe one box of 3.5 when they first got the gun and then never did it again because it's totally un-necessary.

well i went with the stoeger. bought it today and will hopefully try it out tomorrow.
