Looks like we've gone full circle. I clearly remember how shotgunners rejoiced, when plastic shotshells came on the scene, in the early 1960's. No more worries about damp shotshells swelling to the point where extraction was nearly impossible. Then, shotgunners sometimes had to resort to driving them out with a stick from the muzzle end. Not a reassuring task, with live rounds.

If memory serves, Remington was among the first, if not first to introduce plastic shotshell hulls. That was in 1960. Now here we are, better than half a century later, back where we came from. I suspect these "new and improved" shotshells will be non-reloadable, too. Unless that pie crimp is cut off and the shell roll crimped, like before. If possible.

I can't see these things gaining any widespread acceptance among sport shooters.

Al

ps: Though paper hulls can be pie crimped...in my experience the crimps don't hold well after the first firing. Usually not lasting past one or two reloads, at most.

They can’t keep up what they currently make anyhow.

Complaining about the cost of Paper target loads is like asking someone at a shoot in a 750k motor coach how fuel mileage is.

I load once fired Federal Gold Medal paper hulls that a friend saves for me, I have no need to buy factory papers at that price .

If i could smell and if they smelled like the old paper imperials it might be worth the cost.
I pay 30 bucks for gamebore 2.5" shells now. Whether they sell or not its nice to have options

Excited to try them and keep a box or two as a keepsake. I slept on the ZombieMax ammo hornady put out a few years back. Won’t be making that mistake again.

I read that Vista(Federal) after purchasing Remington's two ammunition plants was reintroducing the Peters line of target ammo but I assumed it would be the Peter's Blue Magic shotshells with the nice blue coloured plastic hull similar to a AA? I was out and about this morning and came across a couple of 100 rd packs of Challenger target loads for $37/pack so I scooped them before they were gone. It's getting tough to find target loads out west for under $92/flat before tax these days.

All kinds of challenger here in 12ga target like 100 flats of each size in stock and 84.99 a flat bot people also don't shoot the numbers any more like you guys do down east. The days of 25,000 a year are long gone now 5000 is a big shooter and that would be just 410 years ago when I shot seriously
Cheers
